To Commemorate the Coronation of King Charles III

Update: Due to the difficulty identifying places around the Parish where trees as large as Oak trees (when mature) can be planted, it has been agreed with the kind permission of the Memorial Hall Committee that all three are to be planted in the Autumn on the Memorial Hall Playing Field. The trees will respresent Fretherne, Saul and the Framilodes and a representative from each will be asked to carry out the official ‘planting’ of the trees. The date is yet to be confirmed but please watch this space for further updates.

To the residents of Fretherne, Saul, Framilode Passage and Upper Framilode – following a previous post asking for suggestions on how the Parish could commemorate the Coronation of King Charles III; the Parish Council really liked Claire Smiths suggestion of an Oak tree. But the Council thought not just one tree, how about three 🌳🌳🌳 English Oak trees (Framilode, Saul and Fretherne), each with a commemorative plaque. Oaks are slow growing so it is intended to get as mature trees as possible.
Oak trees have longevity and will help ecologically in many ways as well as going towards replacing trees that have been lost in the Parish one way or another.
So, the Parish Council is asking if any of you have thoughts as to where the trees could be planted? Hopefully one in Fretherne, one in Saul and one in Framilode.
Please consider the size these trees will reach in maturity🌱🌿🌳. Claire’s original suggestion was at the junction of Passage Road and Fretherne Lane; a great location, obviously any location will have to be checked out with the landowner.
If you know of anyone who has a great suggestion but is not on Facebook, please post their idea for them. 🤗
Please send your suggestions for location to Kay on fwsparishclerk@gmail.com
