Local Councils (Parish) are the first tier of local government, statutory bodies which are and controlled by law, this means there are certain rules and procedures which a Council must follow.
When a Councillor is elected or co-opted to join the Council they must sign the register of interest and must abide by the Code of Conduct.
The Council is a corporate body and therefore the decisions ‘it’ makes are made collectively. The key responsibility of the Parish Council is to serve the community it represents.
